This beautiful, two-toned barn sat tucked up against the hills north of Council Bluffs in western Iowa. A couple of old trees, their bare branches frosted with snow, protected it from cold north winds. To my mind, the old building showed well at this time of day and in winter: its red lower level stands out against the winter snow, its white upper level contrasts with the dense branches and earth of the hillside behind them, and the late afternoon light casts a glow on its face and the trees that shelter it. Image has a light painted look applied in post processing.
